TEAM CHARTER APPROACH

Each class will work together to establish an agreed upon team charter. This document will identify the best practices, conflict resolution strategies and all related ethics and morale guidelines we agree as a team, to uphold. Like the foundation of a solid home this document allows each member of the classroom team to better understand what is appropriate and what is not. In addition we review and understand how best to live the L.U. vision and school mission.
OUR COMMUNICATION BEST PRACTICES

This website is our instrument for communication between and among all parties concerned. It will act as one of the main forums for me to communicate with students and their respective parents/guardians.In addition we will use email and specifically the assigned LUschool.com email account assigned the student. I will include what to expect from my class, not only from a long-term period but also on a weekly and daily basis. You will find the 180 day plan for each of the classes...or 180 school days.

It is important to note that a face to face conversation where you have questions or concerns is always the best method of communication. An email is a great start to that conversation or to provide clarity and set an appointment time. You can reach me by email at  cburns@luschool.com. My schedule is morning at LU and we can arrange a face to face meeting that is mindful of our schedules.

Wishing every student a successful year!

Weighting & Categories

As a team of Faculty we discussed and determined what the best practice would be for the categories and the weighting of each category. This ensures that at LU we are aligned and support the whole child development. By the 2nd week of school all students have read and will understand the weighting and categories. This information is to assist the student with managing the work and their success. There are 6 categories and the weighting or percentage of the overall course grades is listed below.

Test/Quiz 25%
Project 25%
Classwork/Homework 25%
Participation 25%

PARTICIPATION
This category reflects the students abilities to focus in class, demonstrate appropriate behaviour and to work in teams in a positive and productive manner.
